About Breanna Podlasly

Breanna Podlasly is a 24 year old wildlife artist living in Campbell River  on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. She uses pastels to portray her wildlife paintings. She is a member of the Pastel Artists of Canada Society.

Growing up on Sointula, (aka. Malcolm Island) an island off the northern coast of Vancouver Island for most of her life, she grew up with an understanding about nature and being connected to the earth. The small town community allowed her lifestyle to be more of an artistic path as she grew up with no television, radio, or internet. Instead, she chose to pick up a pencil.

She began her professional art career in 2014 and has since shown her artwork all over Vancouver Island at events including:

  • Kitty Coleman Woodland Gardens Bloom and Artisan Festivals

  • Winterfest in Sointula

  • Campbell River Member's Exhibition

  • River City Arts Festival

  • and so much more...

In the beginning of 2017, Breanna was given the opportunity to study under award winning wildlife artist Eric Wilson in England. It was there that she honed her skills in pastel and wildlife subject matter and received a certificate of achievement for her success in the one on one class.

Her favorite subjects to paint are endangered animals to help spread awareness on the disappearance of some of the worlds greatest and most beautiful animals on the planet. However, her subjects vary from cars, boats, landscapes and pet portraits. Contact information is available for custom pieces.

Breanna' goal is to one day be recognized as a famed Canadian artist and to become one of the greats such as Robert Bateman and Eric Wilson.

She also wants to one day travel the world to see the animals that she paints in person and to learn more about how we can help save hundreds of species of animals that could one day be extinct, with her art portraying this desire.
